Chatham Island Black Robin

The Chatham Islands Black Robin is an endangered bird from the Chatham Islands off the East Coast of New Zealand. There are only about 200 of these birds left. A couple of the Black Robins most favorite food are Cockroaches, Weta's, Worms and Grubs. These birds are quite small and their feathers are a beautiful black color. They like to live in the woody vegetation and they have strong, little legs do they can hunt on the forest floor. Rats, Stoats and a few other animals have been destroying the Black Robins habitat and they have been decreasing the Chatham Islands Black Robin population, but fortunately D.O.C has been trying their hardest to keep these wonderful birds alive. There used to be 5 Black Robins left and only 1 breeding pair, now there are around 200 Chatham Islands Black Robins alive today and we can thank D.O.C and people from around the country for helping them.
